Athens Kolias, MPM, PMP

Athens Kolias is a Project Manager with 35 years of Customer Service, Event Planning, Inventory Control  and Process Improvement experience.  In addition to serving on the XLUR8 board as Secretary, she serves as Senior Vice President of Training and Development.

Athens has had experience running small businesses as well as corporate teams.  In both environments, she honed her skills in working with people from a large variety of backgrounds and viewpoints.   After decades in Retail Management, Athens earned her Masters in Project Management and her PMP certification, to document her “get it done” attitude. Through that she became involved in leadership of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Project Management Institute.

In her role as the VP of Professional Development for the PMI-SFBAC, Athens managed Event Programs providing project management knowledge and expertise to the Project Management community. Athens was instrumental in rebuilding the Professional Development function, instilling an organizational culture of growth, positivity, and servant leadership.

Athens enjoys teaching PMP Exam Prep courses to project managers around the country. She also teaches Emotional Intelligence skills, Professional Branding for Career Transition, and Stakeholder Management.  Balancing technical skills with interpersonal leadership skills is Athens’ instructional sweet-spot which not only helps professionals to attain certification leading to the jobs they want, but also helps good managers become exceptional leaders.

When Athens is not helping people achieve their best, she is surrounded by the unconditional love of her Chihuahua princess Bella, her musical and comical boyfriend Kevin, her strong and proud mama Christina, and her smart, gorgeous and talented nephews Skyler and Apollo, and niece Theoni!  (yes, Auntie is very biased!)
